VIDEO: Labour Party Unbeatable In FCT, Johnson Boasts

The party’s chieftain insists that FCT remains a strong base for the Labour Party.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Avotu Johnson, says the party is unbeatable in the nation’s capital.
Johnson, a LP National Executive Committee (NEC) member stated this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“Labour Party is the master game changer of the FCT, you can’t beat the Labour Party here,” he said.
“Nobody is interested in collecting money to get voted for or to cast their votes. Most people who live in the FCT are people who have schools, people who understand what it means to provide good governance, quality leadership and the respect for the rule of law.”
The LP chieftain also berated the ruling All Progressives Congress for the handling of the nation’s affairs.
He specifically knocked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, saying the former Rivers State governor has not lived up to expectations in the last two years.

According to him, the nation’s capital is not safe as there has been an upsurge of criminal activities in Abuja.
Johnson also weighed in on the party’s leadership, insisting that Julius Abure remains the LP National Chairman based on its constitution.
Johnson made the remark in response to the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to recognise Abure as the National Chairman of the party.
He accused the electoral body of failing to understand its role as a regulatory organisation.
“I don’t think so. What is missing there is INEC’s understanding of their role as a regulatory organisation.
“The Supreme Court’s judgment told the world in its CTC that the leadership of every political party should be the business of the party, so who is the party?
“The statutory members of LP, the Chairman and Secretary of the party who have the right to conduct or convene a convention.
“Abure remains the national chairman of Labour Party based on the constitution of the party.”
