The installation of Gani Adams as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is about to start at the Durban Stadium in the ancient city of Oyo.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, and the new Aare Ona Kakanfo, Gani Adam , have arrived at the Durban Stadium, the venue of installation of Adams as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland in Oyo.
The duo were seated in the chariot which was followed by convoy of vehicles amidst chanting of Iku Baba Yeye from the crowd who followed them.
Adams’s wife, Kemi and her daughter were among prominent personalities seated at the front row which include the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran and White Cap Chiefs from Lagos State.
Some prominent traditional rulers from Yorubaland are already seated at the venue waiting for the arrival of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and the new Aare Ona Kakanfo for the last lap of the installation rites.
Notable among the monarchs are the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji; Timi of Ede, Oba Adesola Lawal, the Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Olayiwola and traditional rulers from Niger Delta as well as chiefs from Igbo land.
Cultural troupes from Osun and Oyo States have performed to entertain guests who include some foreigners that cane to witness the historic moment.
Security arrangements are very right and policemen temporarily stopped Sat Guru Maharaji from driving his car into the pitch before he was eventually allowed into the pitch.
The programme will start immediately the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abuola Ajimobi, arrives at the venue.
