Governors of the thirty six states of the federation are asking President Muhammadu Buhari to release to them what is left of the London/ Paris exit payment to enable the States plan for the 2018 fiscal year.
The Governors are also hoping that ongoing Reconciliation of figures regarding the exit fund will be concluded soon to facilitate payment of the next tranche by November this year.
Governor of Zamfara State Abdulaziz Yari who is also the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum made the request on Tuesday when he led four other Governors on behalf of the forum to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa in Abuja.
Governor Yari told reporters after the closed door meeting with the President that timely release of the funds will help the States executive major projects.
The Governors Forum Chairman said President Buhari’s decision to release the last two tranches of the London-Paris exit funds contributed in no small measure to Nigeria’s exit from economic recession.
Governor Yari was accompanied by his counterparts from Ondo, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kwara and Akwa Ibom states to the meeting with the President.
